2020 has been a year like no other, that is for sure. But as we turn the page on what has been a difficult year for so many, we felt it’s time to reflect on the good stuff that happened this year.
We are so grateful that so many of our customers have continued to rely on Dragon Metrics even in these uncertain times. In return, we’ve been working harder than ever for you, making this the best year ever for the Dragon Metrics platform.
Back in March, we set the ambitious goal of releasing 12 major new upgrades to the platform in 2020. We couldn’t be more excited to share with you today that we have indeed achieved our goal.
The Dragon Metrics platform has truly transformed in the last year, adding a multitude of valuable features. Let’s take a look at everything new in 2020:
First up is an overhaul of our backlinking tools. We started over from scratch, adding 11 new backlink reports, including favorites like Link Gap Analysis, Link Competitors, New Links, and Lost Links.
The new link tools were integrated throughout the app — Campaigns, Research, URL X-Ray, and Report Builder all were upgraded to include the new reports.
Speaking of ground-up redesigns, we also went back to the drawing board to completely rethink Keyword Research in the platform.
Including data from Google, Baidu, and Naver, our new keyword research tools were revamped to include keyword difficulty, SERP analysis and competitors, better keyword ideas, questions, robust filtering options, and so much more.
Early in the year, we took SERP tracking to the next level, adding a whole new level of detail to the platform.
This update brought the ability to see the top 50 results for any keyword, view the raw SERP collected, use powerful new filters, track competitor ranking trends, visualize keyword cannibalization, and track 6 new SERP features on Google (bringing the total number above 30!)
Need to analyze a list of keywords? Have your eye on a set of terms, but not ready to add them to a campaign? Looking whittle down a list of keywords and prioritize only the top percent? Want to quickly check rankings for a site? Need to see who the top competitors are for a set of terms?
Keyword lists are here to help, bringing advanced workflow management to your keyword research process.
Upload a list of keywords to analyze, or add keywords to a new or existing list via existing tools such as Keyword Research, Google Search Console, or elsewhere. You’ll then receive a huge amount of data on these keywords, including:
We’ve been hard at work on the Site Auditor this year, helping you keep an eye on technical and optimization issues for your site. This year we nearly doubled the number of issues tracked by the platform, covering areas such as:
We launched two new connectors to help you pull your data into Google Data Studio and create custom reports, calculate your own custom metrics, blend with additional data sources, and more — with minimal setup and no programming knowledge required.
The new Ranking Overview report summarizes the 14 different ranking reports in the platform, to provide a high-level overview of your ranking data from every conceivable angle. A perfect place to get started when analyzing site rankings.
Dragon Metrics is all about getting you the data you need in whatever format you need it — whether that’s a one-off Excel export, a scheduled report delivered to your inbox, a beautiful and custom-designed Report Builder report, Google Data Studio, or a custom integration via our API.
This year, we added one more method. You can now schedule reports to be delivered directly to your FTP server. This method is especially useful for those doing reporting at serious scale.
2020 saw a huge change in consumer habits, and a huge change in how people search. The new Search Demand Trends report in Dragon Metrics helps you keep track of these long-term keyword search volume trends over time — in aggregate, individually, and segmented in any way you want to slice and dice the data.
The entire process of adding and managing keywords in the platform was greatly simplified, and dozens of smaller user experience improvements were made. While not as flashy as some of the others on the list, this update made the app significantly nicer to use all throughout.
2020 saw a continued expansion of URL X-Ray, adding integration with our Research tools, to see which keywords any URL on your site ranks for. While this has always existed elsewhere in the platform, bringing it into URL X-Ray makes this tool even more convenient and powerful than before.
Earlier this year, Bulk Search Volume lookups were added to allow you to input up to 700 keywords at once to instantly receive the monthly search volume.
While now perhaps eclipsed by its new older brother, Keyword Lists, which in addition to bulk search volume lookups, includes a huge amount of additional data, Bulk Search Volume Lookups can still be useful when all you need is a quick download of search volume data.
The world has a collective good feeling about 2021, and we have every reason to believe that this will be no different for Dragon Metrics. We’re not slowing down, but continue to accelerate.
We’ve laid the groundwork to take the platform to the next level in 2021, and we’re so excited that you’ll be sticking around to see it. We can’t wait to show you.
To all of our customers, especially those of you that shared your feedback, discussed your reporting needs and goals, suggested new features, and in continued to push us to provide even more value in the product, we thank you for such a wonderful year. We hope you have a lovely (and safe) holiday.
