12 Major Product Releases in 12 Months

2020 has been a year like no other, that is for sure. But as we turn the page on what has been a difficult year for so many, we felt it’s time to reflect on the good stuff that happened this year.

We are so grateful that so many of our customers have continued to rely on Dragon Metrics even in these uncertain times. In return, we’ve been working harder than ever for you, making this the best year ever for the Dragon Metrics platform.

Back in March, we set the ambitious goal of releasing 12 major new upgrades to the platform in 2020. We couldn’t be more excited to share with you today that we have indeed achieved our goal.

The Dragon Metrics platform has truly transformed in the last year, adding a multitude of valuable features. Let’s take a look at everything new in 2020:

New backlink tools

First up is an overhaul of our backlinking tools. We started over from scratch, adding 11 new backlink reports, including favorites like Link Gap Analysis, Link Competitors, New Links, and Lost Links.

The new link tools were integrated throughout the app — Campaigns, Research, URL X-Ray, and Report Builder all were upgraded to include the new reports.

Complete redesign of keyword research tools

Keyword research

Speaking of ground-up redesigns, we also went back to the drawing board to completely rethink Keyword Research in the platform.

Including data from Google, Baidu, and Naver, our new keyword research tools were revamped to include keyword difficulty, SERP analysis and competitors, better keyword ideas, questions, robust filtering options, and so much more.

Massive rank tracking update

Rank tracking tools

Early in the year, we took SERP tracking to the next level, adding a whole new level of detail to the platform.

This update brought the ability to see the top 50 results for any keyword, view the raw SERP collected, use powerful new filters, track competitor ranking trends, visualize keyword cannibalization, and track 6 new SERP features on Google (bringing the total number above 30!)

We launched two new connectors to help you pull your data into Google Data Studio and create custom reports, calculate your own custom metrics, blend with additional data sources, and more — with minimal setup and no programming knowledge required.

FTP Reports

FTP reports

Dragon Metrics is all about getting you the data you need in whatever format you need it — whether that’s a one-off Excel export, a scheduled report delivered to your inbox, a beautiful and custom-designed Report Builder report, Google Data Studio, or a custom integration via our API.

This year, we added one more method. You can now schedule reports to be delivered directly to your FTP server. This method is especially useful for those doing reporting at serious scale.

2020 saw a huge change in consumer habits, and a huge change in how people search. The new Search Demand Trends report in Dragon Metrics helps you keep track of these long-term keyword search volume trends over time — in aggregate, individually, and segmented in any way you want to slice and dice the data.

Huge user experience and keyword management update

User experience update

The entire process of adding and managing keywords in the platform was greatly simplified, and dozens of smaller user experience improvements were made. While not as flashy as some of the others on the list, this update made the app significantly nicer to use all throughout.

2020 saw a continued expansion of URL X-Ray, adding integration with our Research tools, to see which keywords any URL on your site ranks for. While this has always existed elsewhere in the platform, bringing it into URL X-Ray makes this tool even more convenient and powerful than before.

Bulk search volume lookups

Bulk search volume lookups

Earlier this year, Bulk Search Volume lookups were added to allow you to input up to 700 keywords at once to instantly receive the monthly search volume.

While now perhaps eclipsed by its new older brother, Keyword Lists, which in addition to bulk search volume lookups, includes a huge amount of additional data, Bulk Search Volume Lookups can still be useful when all you need is a quick download of search volume data.
